Medication Reviews

• Sit down with your local pharmacist to discuss your health goals, medication benefits and side effects

Minor Ailments and Contraception Prescribing

• In June 2023, pharmacists were granted the ability to prescribe for a number of medical conditions and birth control

Vaccinations and Other Injections:

• BC pharmacists have been administering vaccinations for years, including your flu shot, Covid, pneumonia, shingles, tetanus, hepatitis A & B, etc.
• In 2023, pharmacists were also given the ability to inject medications authorized by another prescriber, including Vitamin B12, long-acting psychiatric injections, birth control injections, etc.

Prescription Extensions

• For medications you take every day, our pharmacists may be able to extend your prescription until you can follow up with your doctor

Sterile and Non-Sterile Pharmaceutical Compounding (PCCA)

• Compounding locations: Dyck’s Pharmacists (St Paul) in Kelowna, Fortune Creek IDA in Armstrong, and Fruitvale IDA in Fruitvale
• Common products include hormone replacement therapy creams and capsules, low-dose naltrexone, liquid medications for children, and flavoured medications for your pet!

Home Health Care

• 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
• Fitted compression products like socks
• Ostomy supplies
• Braces and other supports and mobility aids
• Equipment rentals like crutches, breast pump, cryotherapy cuffs

Travel Health

• This service is just starting up at Dyck’s Pharmacists (Glenmore) in Kelowna
• The pharmacist will perform an assessment with you on your travel destination and administer the recommended travel vaccinations (including yellow fever)
• The pharmacist will also contact your prescriber if you require preventative medication for traveler’s diarrhea, malaria, etc.

Long-Term Care

• Medication provided to care facilities
• On-site medication review and facility med-room checks
• On-site vaccination clinics
